Introduction to Ixchel Yarns and Fibres and Charly McCafferty aka the bunny lady
By Joni Cornell
We are running a promotion for new purchasers, the Ixchel Fibres - Gentle Roller February Promotion, where I have written about how I came across Ixchel fibres and Charly, the ‘bunny lady’ and I’d encourage you to read it.
We couldn’t do an Ixchel promotion for new Gentle Roller buyers without giving our current owners an opportunity to also experience Ixchel fibres.
The February promotion for new purchases relates to the fibre club but aside from the clubs, Charly posts new blends usually based on themes or a rare breed of sheep, to her blog. I went over-board when Hungarian Rhapsody was on offer (this blend includes fibres from the rare Hungarian Racka sheep, which is grey, curly and soft).
Charly is an “old fashioned” revolutionary. She doesn’t have an online automated shop, she has a “shop blog” updated every Friday at 8pm AEDT and people can choose products from that. All it takes is a simple email or message with what you would like to buy, the colourway and the quantity. Charly is a small exclusive supplier, which means these are luxury special blends, handmade and hand dyed exclusive items on offer in very limited quantities so it is first in - first served.
Charly has a high intensity quality customer service, because she wants to make her customers feel special and she loves enabling them. She can cater for your exact needs, make the exact custom order you have in mind and also make your experience with Ixchel a lasting and special one. She does a lot of customer orders - you can call it handmade with love. Be prepared for fine tuning your colour choices with Panetone chart colours. Nothing as wishy-washy as asking for a ‘berry’ or ‘desert’ colourways. Charly demands specifics, which gets me thinking, so that I can be more helpful. That way too it ensures that I actually get the colours I want and she’ll lead you through the maze of that every step of the way.
Since I started using Ixchel I’ve experienced all sorts of luxury blends, including Racka, Shetland, cashmere, angora, yak and others as well as plant fibres such as agave cactus, bamboo, Tencel and shell fibre, and various blingy fab bits such as Angelina.
It is my pleasure to introduce you to Charly ‘the bunny lady’ and her unique blends.
